Men's Tennis Cruises to Fourth Straight Win

Demon Deacons drop Florida International, 6-1.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest won its fourth consecutive match with a 6-1 victory over Florida International, who beat 24th ranked NC State on Thursday, at Leighton Stadium this afternoon. It was the Deacs ninth win in nine matches at home this season.

The Deacons (10-8) only lost won set in five of their six singles match victories. The nation's 50th ranked singles player, Wake Forest's Myles Clouston, won in straight sets over Peter Hoffmann, 6-3, 6-3. It was Clouston's 19th overall win this season and his ninth in 10th in dual match play.

Wake's doubles team of Clouston and Raul Munoz moved into a fourth place tie for most wins during a season in the WFU record book. The defeated FIU's team of Jaime Fillol and Marcel Van Der Heide, 9-8 (2). The win is their 21st on the season, tying them with Marco Lucioni and John Vinson whom also won 21 matches in 1986. Clouston and Munoz hold the record for wins in a season with 29. They achieved that feat last season.

Of the Deacons eight remaining matches, seven of them are ACC matches. Wake Forest will return to action on Wednesday, March 31 when they travel to Durham to take on No. 7 Duke.
