Deacons Down North Carolina in ACC Play
Men's tennis post strong showing in 5-2 win.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Wake Forest defeated North Carolina for the
first time since 1988 at Leighton Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, 5-2. The
victory ended a brief two-match skid by Wake Forest (11-10, 3-2 ACC) and
extended their home winning streak this season to nine.
The Deacons swept the doubles matches from North Carolina (10-10,
2-2 ACC) with the 14th ranked duo of Myles Clouston and Raul Munoz
defeating Michael Grass and Ben Elix at the No. 1 flight, 8-6. The Deacon
combo improves their record to 5-0 in the ACC and 24-6 overall. Also
claiming victories in doubles competition were Wake's Michael Berger and
Justin Kaufmann at No. 2 and the team of Johan Hansen and Andres Guzman at
No. 3.
Wake Forest also claimed four of the six singles points as they won
at the No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 flights. Clouston won his match at No. 1 singles
with a straight set victory against Grass, 6-0 and 7-6 (4). Brett Mauro
won his eighth match in his last 10 outings, defeating Aron Breziner at the
No. 5 flight, 6-2 and 7-5. Johan Hansen and Justin Kaufmann were also
straight set winners for the Deacons.
The Deacs will be in action again tomorrow as they host ACC rival
and 24th ranked Clemson. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. in
Leighton Stadium.
