Women's Golf Tie for Second at Bryan National

BROWN SUMMIT, NC - Kelli Kamimura shot a tournament-record-tying 69 in the
final round as the University of Washington captured the team title of the
second annual Bryan National Collegiate women's golf tournament. The
Huskies recorded a team score of 302 in the final round to finish with a
three-day total of 916. Tournament co-host Wake Forest finished tied for
second place with the Swedish National Team, as both teams finished with
team totals of 929.
Ohio State finished the event alone in fourth place with a total of
931, and Furman was fifth with a three-day total of 935. Penn State was six
shots behind the Paladins in sixth at 941 and New Mexico State finished in
seventh at 947. Memphis took the eighth spot with a total of 959 and UNC
Chapel Hill was ninth at 971. Tournament co-host UNC Greensboro moved up to
finish 10th at 972, while Kentucky (978) and Colorado (988) rounded out the
12-team field.
Lindsay Smith of Furman captured individual medalist honors as she
carded a 73 on the final day to finish with a 54-hole score of 221.
Kamimura's 69 in the final round propelled her into a second-place tie with
Kristina Engstrom of Sweden at 222.
Wake Forest's Kelly Kirwin moved up three spots in the final round
to finish alone in sixth place at 226. She was joined in the top 10 by
teammate Marta Prieto, who finished in ninth place at 228. The tourney's
other co-host, UNC Greensboro, was led by Lotta Jonson and Summer Phinney,
both of whom finished tied for 28th place at 240.
The tournament was played at the Par-72, 6,037-yard Bryan Park
Champions Course in Brown Summit.
