Volleyball Falls to Minnesota at Nike Challenge

Offense struggles in 3-0 loss to Golden Gophers.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Wake Forest volleyball team lost for only the second time this year as it fell to host Minnesota during the final day of play at the Nike Challenge in Minneapolis, MN on Saturday afternoon.

The Deacs struggled to score points as they dropped three straight games by counts of 15-7, 15-4, and 15-6.

The Gophers were led by Nicole Branagh who finished with a match-high 21 kills to go along with her seven digs.

The Deacons were led by junior Katie Horne (Nashua, NH/Nashua) who finished with a team-high 13 kills and four digs. Freshman Trina Maso de Moya (Plantation, FL/St. Thomas Aquinas) added 11 digs to the Deacon cause and junior Amber Grahn (Louisville, IL/Louisville) finished with 26 assists.

The loss dropped the Deacons' record to 5-2 on the season and Wake will next be in action on September 19th when they face East Carolina and Radford in Radford, VA.
